Although vaccination is our best, clearest path beyond this deadly COVID-19 pandemic, and vaccinations are now available here in San Jose for all residents 65 years of age and older, the latest data shows that 55% of seniors have not yet received their first dose. We know that many seniors face obstacles and challenges in signing up for vaccination.
More than 100 volunteers have joined together with the Conservation Corps, San Jose library staff and many others to call and share important information with seniors in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.
In San Jose, we’re uniting to keep everyone in our community healthy and safe. The vaccines are 94% effective, and even more effective against serious illness or death. Ensuring all of our neighbors are vaccinated is an important step to putting our community on the path to recovery.
Amid a divided nation, we can provide an example of how to unite in moments of crisis. Working together, we’ll emerge stronger and safer.
